i have lots of credit card debt ----but i am now where i could negotiate a pay off. I have never been late, biut would like to negotiate before i start being late. how should i handle the and try to protect my credit scores

In order to settle you will have to go late on your payments which will take a toll on your score. I was already in financial peril so my score wasn't even a consideration. I just needed to get rid of the debt through settlement or bankruptcy. I chose settlement. If I had the ability to pay the debt back I definately would have.

You need to be late on your accounts to have leverage in settlement negotiations. If you were the credit card company why would you agree to settle for less when a customer has been making payments on time? They make their money by charging high interest rates to people like yourself. If you decide to take the route of debt settlement to solve your problem, or have any other questions about it, dont hesitate to contact me.
