What has been people's experience when you close account and open in new bank...does the old bank just send back checks noting that account is closed??? do they hunt you down? do they try charge you the amount?

If you have several actual checks come in after the account is closed, sometimes you can be charged with theft by deception, again, depends on the laws where you live. If you are talking about ACH transactions or electronic check, that is different.
