Should I make payment to Leading Edge if they validate the debt?

Ok I am working with them, they sent me a validation of the debt including the amount I owe and my original account number with Sams Club Discover. I was iffy on whether they were legit so I called Sams and they referred me to Resurgent and Resurgent said that Leading Edge is authorized to collect on their account. So Leading edge offered a 50% settlement and I have that in writing. So have I got all of my bases covered?
