What can they do or take?

I have a judgment against me for between $15 - $20k.
I currently have child support deducted to the maximum allowable for NY State (25% of disposable).
I own a car but if it were seized and sold, the net profit would be less than $1000. I don't have a checking or savings account but have a small 401k (less than $4k). My wife and I have no joint accounts and the house is not in my name.
Assuming for a moment that they try, what can they possibly do to me? Worst case scenarios please :(

NY permits 10% of your weekly gross income or 25% of you disposable income which ever is less to be garnished from your paycheck. Your retirement plan cannot be touched. You might be able to keep your car under the personal property exemption, but you would want to consult an expert on NY judgments about that.

Thanks for the reply. Can they go after non-joint assets of my wife? Especially considering that the debt was incurred several years prior to our marriage.

Nope....even if you were in a community property state, anything done before the marriage has nothing to do with your wife.
