ProCollect is a collection company based out of Dallas. They do collection mainly on properties I believe, but also do some healthcare collection and cellphone collection.
Their address is:
9550 Forrest Lane
Suite # 420
Dallas, TX 75243
In the past they were unrepsonsive to complaints made against them to the BBB. However, the BBB has reported that they are getting better at responding to complaints.
If you feel that you are being targeted by this company you could speak with the CS manager, Lesley Llorente @ 800-839-8186 or call the Texas AG offiace at 800-252-8011.
Hope this information helps you.

There are actually a couple different ways to go about this. Hopefully, they'll accept a faxed cease & desist letter. If not, mail them a letter in the address above, and send it certified so you know they received in their actual hands.
Their fax number is: 214-341-0425
I also found another number from the BBB, 214-349-0078

Depending on what they are trying to collect on, you may wish to use another letter. However, they are only allowed to contact your relatives ONCE, in order to locate you. They are not allowed to disclose any information to them. If you have spoken to them, then they no longer need to be calling your brother or mother. This letter should cease all telephone contact.
I would make an attempt to pay back the debt, either with them if they offer a good deal...or with the original creditor.

You can basically reword the letter that is in that thread. Using the words,
"I wish you to cease & desist any further telephone communication. I will only accept mail correspondence. If you neglect to cease & desist telephone contact, in which I may use telephone recording devices...I will pursue legal action."

In that case then, I would recommend answering the telephone the next time they call (if you haven't already spoken to them). Ask for a validation letter to be mailed to you, and tell them you'll get back to them. End the call there.
After receiving the letter, or after finding out what the call is about, you may wish to use this letter:

Re: Acct # 417 6411
To Whom It May Concern:
This letter is being sent to you in response to a telephone call placed to me on
December 12, 2005. Be advised that this is not a refusal to pay, but a
notice sent pursuant to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, 15 USC
1692g Sec. 809 (b) that your claim is disputed and validation is
requested.
This is NOT a request for ???verification??? or proof of my mailing address,
but a request for VALIDATION made pursuant to the above named Title and
Section. I respectfully request that your offices provide me with
competent evidence that I have any legal obligation to pay you.
Please provide me with the following:
- What the money you say I owe is for;
- Explain and show me how you calculated what you say I owe;
- Provide me with copies of any papers that show I agreed to pay what you
say I owe;
- Provide a verification or copy of any judgment if applicable;
- Identify the original creditor;
- Prove the Statute of Limitations has not expired on this account
- Show me that you are licensed to collect in my state
- Provide me with your license numbers and Registered Agent
At this time I will also inform you that if your offices have reported
invalidated information to any of the 3 major Credit Bureau's (Equifax,
Experian or TransUnion) this action might constitute fraud under both
Federal and State Laws. Due to this fact, if any negative mark is found
on any of my credit reports by your company or the company that you
represent I will not hesitate in bringing legal action against you for
the following:
- Violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act
- Violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
- Defamation of Character
- If your offices are able to provide the proper documentation as
requested in the following Declaration, I will require at least 30 days
to investigate this information and during such time all collection
activity must cease and desist.
Also during this validation period, if any action is taken which could
be considered detrimental to any of my credit reports, I will consult
with my legal counsel for suit. This includes any listing any
information to a credit reporting repository that could be inaccurate or
invalidated or verifying an account as accurate when in fact there is no
provided proof that it is.
If your offices fail to respond to this validation request within 30
days from the date of your receipt, all references to this account must
be deleted and completely removed from my credit file and a copy of such
deletion request shall be sent to me immediately.
I would also like to request, in writing, that no telephone contact be
made by your offices to my home or to my place of employment. If your
offices attempt telephone communication with me, including but not
limited to computer generated calls and calls or correspondence sent to
or with any third parties, it will be considered harassment and I will
have no choice but to file suit. All future communications with me MUST
be done in writing and sent to the address noted in this letter by USPS.

Procollect tactics
I have sent numerous letters to them from validation to cease and desist all which they have not complied. In the beginning I agreed to pay without first having the account validated, my bad. Then I changed accounts due to a move and informed them that I no longer had that account so not to withdraw money from that account. They tried to withdraw money twice and I called them on it and they said they had every right to try and withdraw money from an account that no longer existed. Please tell me what I should do now.

Pro Collect is trying to collect on a debt from my former apartment complex (2003). The judge dimissed the case because the apartment was filled with mold as a result from a water leak caused by the ac unit going out. I have sent them documentation but yet they still harrass me about the charges. Now that want me to settle but I don't feel I need to.

pro collect
I just moved out of my apt before the lease ran out. Aparently they are using procollect as I received some nasty phone calls wanting me to pay by phone but I refused. I asked for something in writing which was sent and said I have 30 days to respond I still have 10 days left but they are still harrassing me at my employment. I did reply with a cease and desisit letter which I sent certified with required signature. When the person called again I told them and they said they didn't accept certified letters and only express letters. Does this make any sense? Anyway i also faxed them a copy of the letter as well as emailing everyone on the contact list.
Avoid if possible
I paid a debt via the telephone with the understanding that written confirmation would be sent via email within an hour. The telephone rep lied. The supervisor simply stated that was how things are done. If you can avoid paying a debt through Procollect, Inc - DO IT. I could've and I wish I had.
Apartment complex where I never lived
I received a letter from ProCollect today stating I owed an apartment complex $1300.00. I never lived at that complex and there is not a complex in the city where I live by that name. I called them and tried to explain it to them and they were so rude and hung up in my face.
Happy Outcome
A misunderstanding came between an apartment complex and myself that involved me being called everyday by Pro-Collect. I actually put in contact to their president Larry who was extremely nice and respectful in listening to what I had to say. The end result concluded Larry contacting the apartment complex and resolving my "debt" which has now been erased free of charge.

this company doesnt report accuratly to the credit bureas, i have been on a payment plan with them for 11 months and they wont report the information to the major credit bureaus, also i notified them not to process a post dated check and they did anyways said they can take a payment from my account even if i called ahead to notify funds would not be available, also the dont read me the mini miranda every time i call, they wont even give me proof of the payments received for the last 11 months

They keep trying to collect on money I do not owe. I have told them I do not owe them the money and even sent them proof. I have sent them letters to stop contacting us too. They continue to try. I have changed my numbers and they even got my new numbers, not sure how. About the proof that I do not owe the money, they said they do not care, they still expect me to pay and will not stop calling.

Tonight I had a Mr. Thornton call me from ProCollect. At one point, he started SCREAMING at me on the phone. I unfortunately started screaming back that I was not refusing to pay anything, just that I could not pay anything. I know I owe lots of money on various medical bills, but being unemployed, on unemployment and food stamps just to be able to eat and pay rent and electric and car insurance, it leaves nothing else to pay off bills that are in collections. I emailed Mr. Gingold, Mr. Curtis and Ms. Codie tonight, letting them know that he was screaming at me, and that I would speak to no one in the future from Procollect except Mr. Gingold. I told him if I heard from Mr. Thornton again, I would go to an attorney. But now after reading all of your posts about this company after I sent the email, I am worried this will not get resolved.

harrassing the military
Calling me, threatening, harrassing, rude...for a $46.00 carpet cleaning balance from an apartment I lived in when I was sent on assignment. The apartment had all my contact info but never told me I had an outstanding balance and turned it over to collection when I didn't answer them..?? The Procollect got involved, calling me and everyone on my apartment application reference list. Too bad the apartment didn't also call my references because they could have reached me. Procollect harrassing my references and when we've asked for a VALIDATION NOTICE, they refused and hung up on us! They want to talk as long as the conversation is going their way.

This is the Letter I sent to the president and the manager, after someone rudely said "if you have no question, then have a nice day" and hung up the phone.
To the president, Larry Gingold and Collection Manager, Nakia Codie,
Greetings,
I received a letter from you company in last Friday (01/13/2012), saying I have a balance due to your company, the balance is from my previous apartment, Campus Corner Apartments (G228), which totally is $275.00+$7.5(collection fee). I am writing this ???inquire/complaint??? because I am going to dispute the payment. Following is the situation that why I consider to refuse to pay.
I tried to call you company during the weekend, but it is closed, so I called you company again on 01/16/2012, trying to know what happened and where is the balance coming from, since I do not understand why I should have a balance, if I did have a balance, I should get noticed within 45 days after I moved out the apartment (I moved out on August, 2011), the balance, as I know, are from the fees of replacing my bedroom???s carpet and cleaning the living room???s carpet.
Then I get connected to Garzea. She is in such hurry, asks me to pay the balance immediately and she is in a very bad attitude to me, as I feel (I believe your company have the conversation recorded). The reason why I called your company, as I said, is because I want to know what happened, the only notice that I received for this kind of notice is from your company, not from the apartment, I did left my phone number, email address, available mailing address to the apartment, but did not get any notice from them, but from your company directly. To anyone who suffered from this similar situation, I believe she/he will definitely call your company and know what???s really happened; I called as well, However, it looks like I was wasting the time, standing at Garzea???s point; Everything I explain and I can do to dispute the payment is wasting (really?). What Garzea wants is not trying to help me, is not explain what happened, but wants the money (why?), so this makes me doubt the reliability to the letter, even to your company.
Also, what makes me doubt is, based on the ONLY letter that I received from your company, the deadline for the payment should be after 30 days when I received the letter, which should reasonably ???DUE to 30 days after 01/13/2012, which is 02/12/2012???, but not 01/18/2012 at 5.p.m (or 8 p.m, I did not remember what Garzea required) as what Garzea demanded on the phone. Please give me reason why she said that? Is this your company rules or law required?
So considering all of these above, I went to the Campus Corner and explained this situation; the manager that I tried to talk to (Lisa) was not there, she will be in the office tomorrow (01/17/2012). Her assistant/receptionist help me left her a message and so Lisa should call me tomorrow at the time when I available (1-4 pm), as what I mention in the message. And I believed I will know what is wrong.
Under Indiana law, a landlord must return the tenant's security deposit within 45 days after the tenant has surrendered the rental property to the landlord (i.e., returned the keys and vacated the property). I did not get any notice or even bill payment within that 45 days. Maybe it is the apartment???s mistake, maybe is the postal office???s mistake, or maybe something else, there MUST be a reason. And I want to know the reason, and want to know who should be responsible for this? Why your company refers to me? Why I am the person whose bill comes from nowhere need to pay the balance? That is why I called your company today, that???s all I need to know. I am not the kind of person who likes repudiation a debt, I will pay what I should pay, and I will not pay what I am not supposed to pay. And now you company needs me to pay, at least you will let me know why?
I am an international student here at Indiana University, the reason that why I come to United States is to study at school for my future. I spent most of my time on studying and learning the knowledge from the school. However, this situation really costs lots of my time; I cannot concentrate on my study, which makes in really in bad mood. I believe your company will at least let me know what happened, why Garzea is so ???mad??? to me? Did I do something wrong to her, to your company, or else?
If your company cannot help to make this thing clear, I would like to ask for the help from the justice of the United States. I believe the justice will justify people who is innocent.
All the Bests,
No responses from them yet. All they want is money, money for them is the god to everything, ignore who they are collecting from. They are crazy! I believe they will deserve a bad consquence, they will sow the wind and reap the whirlwind. I paid the money because I donot want to effect my credit score. I am not a blackguard, but to them, I have to say, 'ck it...
