Called Chase Today
Date: Wed, 04/28/2010 - 17:19
Called Chase today, after going through the spill of why I can’t make payments, the women left the phone and came back about 5 min later, she said they refuse to settle for 30 %.
Then she says, well maybe if you settle both my accts one for 30 % the other for 50% they might take it, (I have never been late on 2nd acct of 7k cause the interest is only 3% it was a WAMU acct they bought, I didn’t want to lose the interest if I could get a job, if I stop paying the 2nd acct the interest will go to 29%).
Then she said if I could make a payment of 280 that would give them more time to settle, she said there is not much time left to settle this acct that they need more time.
I asked why won’t they settle, she says cause in Dec 2009, I offered 5k on 17k and they refused back then, so now I do not qualify for a settlement. That does not make any sense.
Then she said, maybe it would be best if you filed bk but we don’t want you to file bk. I told her, I don’t want to do that cause I feel bad enough I can’t make the payment.
She told me she sent the offer to them anyway and for me to call back Thursday maybe they will change there mind.
A month ago I got a letter from Chase stating charge off is coming soon, after charge off Chase may keep the account and call you for payments or send it to CA
Should I stop paying on the 2nd acct?
I know I’m going to stop paying on Target it is already 29% interest, and I hear they are hard to deal with.
I will post again after I call Chase on Thursday

She was an idiot.
Check out the forums and find the other contact numbers for Chase.
Here's a couple that I have:

Other Debtconsolidationcare members may add some others.
As you will find out, they are among the easiest to settle with.
However get through to the right person, don't settle for an idiot.
Good Luck!

Wow I am flabergasted. Chase was an easy one to settle. But I was late on everything and I think they could see the bk writing on the wall. Keep repeating whatever your hardship is and maybe they will come around.

25% is a great offer...if you can afford it, take it. How late are you? Are you talking with any special dept?
They have offered me 35% for two months and won't budge; unfortunately I don't have the funds for 35%....I need to be around 28%.
Thanks.
MGD I know 25% is good.... but I have ALOT of debt !! more than
MGD
I know 25% is good.... but I have ALOT of debt !!
more than most.... I dont know if they will go to 20 %.... I hope so
They were stuck at 30 % for 6 weeks !! Then in the last few days they went to 25% ??
So at least its getting better!
Still not deal
Called Chase today, they now say I need to make a payment of 129 or it will go to CA or our legal department and your credit well be damaged and you can not talk to use any longer.
I told her, I???m too old to worry about my credit now, I???m too deep in debt.
She says, maybe the CA well make a deal with you.
I asked why I don???t qualify for settlement, this time asking she said she does not know why, the notes just says DO NOT SUBMIT ANY OFFERS.
Then she says, she was told Chase is not taking any more offers from anyone.
She wanted to know why I could not pay 129 now, I told her I could give her my other Chase payment, but then I would be late on that acct.
She says, SORRY I CAN NOT HELP YOU, good luck.
I was about 118 days late and the settlement was for 35%. I tho
I was about 118 days late and the settlement was for 35%. I thought that was great and wanted it over before they could sue me so I just took it and ran. That would be great if you could get them lower than 25%. Keep us informed.

Wow isn't that strange, why can't you submit offers?
Sounds just like what citibank is doing to me!!! They never came right out and said those exact words but I call one day and made a offer of 35% (2nd time) and later that week called back and my offer was never submitted.
He told me he could not offer 35% again. I would need to go up? You can only make one offer and if it's not approved for 35% TO BAD! Crazy and I know he is lying! BUT what can I do! Try with 6 different people and so far nothing!!!!!

We've been pm'ing with ideas, but nothing worked.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to help out?
