Just my 2 cents worth.
Whether it's legal or otherwise, I bought a cheap pickup device from Radio Shack and recorded some of these bottom feeders.
It actually turned out to be somewhat entertaining to record them and the next time, play it in the background for the dimwit to hear.
I know it's frustrating but with the support of this great forum, you will ultimatley win.

They are calls generated by a robot. When you answer, the call is disconnected because there's no one available to pick up. Sometimes you get "lucky" and get a live person...... I get the same calls from one of my creditors.... they don't even leave a voice mail. All calls by robots should be illegal. I don't answer them because it eats up my cell phone minutes.

My suggestion to you is to call them and make a payment arrangement that you can afford. Once you have an arrangement on the books, they won't call you anymore, unless you don't stick to it.
