who should I make check out to?

I received a settlement offer from a lawyer (slamowitz) today representing citibank. If I accept this offer, does it make a difference if I make the check out to the original creditor and not the lawyer (my preference)?
They validated the debt and all that already.
Also, this "check" wont be drawn on my primary bank account in case you're wondering. It will be a temporary bank account or cashier's check / money order.

Is the collection agency reporting the account to your report? W
Is the collection agency reporting the account to your report? What does the validation state? Does the CA now own the account?
IMO you're required to write the check to the law firm. When Citi has charged off the account it mightn't have retained its rights on the account.
