So I settled Chase today 25% at 59 days late. I am thrilled. Then BofA/FIA called so I took it. I thought what the heck I will ask them for settlement. I am 60 days late. I have one card of each. FIA is 12,000 and BofA bus card is 45,000. They said they will put them together??? They offered 50%..I said I can't do that. So she was really, really nice. I told her our whole terrible sob story and she said for sure we qualify for a settlement. She said to figure out how much we could come up with and she will take it to her manager. She even said she would "fight" for me b/c she feels so bad for us. etc. etc. She also said they are more likely to work with us b/c our payment history and credit WAS so good and they truly believe we have a hardship..which is all very true. I have been reading on the forum and no one has gotten any better lately than 30%. We really cannot come up with anymore than 15% for the cards combined..so I am really not hopeful. BUT I really could not believe how easy Chase was and maybe BofA will be easy??? Any advice for me here...Is BofA just going to laugh in my face when I offer the 15%??? Oh how I want this all just to be over with!!!

Its funny how customer experiences vary between the creditors. In several instances in the past I have read the Chase is one of the difficult lenders to deal with, whereas, BofA is easy.

Luckin, its hard to say if BofA would accept your offer or not but when the debt amount is too high, they may agree to a lower settlement offer.

By the way, have you personally guaranteed the business debt?

It is just astonishing how the settlements vary from debtor to debtor!

Chase was easy at 60 days for me.
(Your 25% is outstanding and at 59 days!)

And boa the snake was settled at 120 for 30.1%

I'd get that boa employee's direct number if possible.

In order to get 15%, you may have to run it out all of the way to 150 days or let it go to collections.

Good settling and keep us posted.

Thank you!!! You are all so awesome for your input. I would be so lost without all of you!!!

I do have the reps direct line and ext. She was going to start working on her manager and then call me OR when I felt had secured fundds I would call her. I am actually just waiting a bit to see if she will call. I spoke w/her last eve around 6.

SC..forgive my stupidity..I really do not understand the whole personal guaranteed thing. The BofA debt we have is a business credit card/line of credit that we took out back in probably 2006. We used it once...all of it except for about $6,000. The limit was 50,000. How do I find out if we personally guarateed it?? It is in my husband's name.

I will of course keep you all posted..wish me luck!

How many days from the time you stopped making a payment did you come to your agreement on the settlement? Did you mention settlement or did they?

Just got off the phone with BofA/FIA..this is my big one. I offered 15%. We are just over 60 days late. Our balance between both cards is 57,000.00. She said that her and her manager could not approve it HOWEVER she feels like it will get approved in 4 weeks. She is personally going to keep my file and call me. Her and her manager both agreed it needs to be a little more delinquent, and then they will probably approve it. So i will wait. Honestly, I would have offered more, but do not and will not have it. I really really hope this goes through, but I know it is a little bit of wishful thinking. But just wanted to keep everyone updated on it. She has also taken me out of the call system and when I hear from them it will be from her. I am so glad b/c she is so very nice. Refreshing after dealing with Advanta!
