Allied Interstate has been calling my phone starting exactly at 8 in the morning, apparently that is okay. But the problem I have is when they call my parents, and now even my in-laws. They will not communicate any validation regarding the debt the apparently own. I have a settlement letter from another company, with the same account number they claim now to own. What do i need to do to stop the phone calls to people other than me?

I would advise them that they are violating the FDCPA by contacting others about the debt when they know how to contact you. If I remember right, they are allowed to make contact with others in order to find you, but once they know where you are and how to contact you they must stop callign them. Also, send in a cease and desist letter from your parents and in-laws.

They more than likely do not own it but were assigned it to collect.

Any settlement letter from a previous agency would be null and void if the agency is no longer handling the account.

Often when an new account is assigned, the client requires calls be made to ALL numbers on the account. Call them and talk to them.

This is true and is exactly why I answered them every few days. Never had a call to my numerous relatives nearby because I gave them no reason to call them.

Hi,
By giving calls to others they are going against the rule of FDCPA...As per my knowledge, according to FDCPA rule, they can contact other people to get hold of you,but when they know how to get hold of you then they should not call others & bother them..So, they must stop calling your parents. If possible also send in a cease & desist letter to them from your parents.
