I just received a phone call from a guy claiming to be from an attorneys office (Williams and Scott?)that is filing criminal charges against me and I would be arrested tomorrow morning unless I pay them $1200.00 by 3pm today.

As far I as I know I have never been contacted about this debt and he read some big long legal thing to me about interstate bank fraud, criminal fraud and check forgery.

I had been in trouble in the past but I thought I had paid back all of the loans.

What should I do, I do not have the money to pay this.

first know that this person broke the law in threatening arrest.second file a police report for the call.then use whatever number comes up on caller id to file AG,and FTC complaints.do not worry as this piece of garbage can't have you arrested for owing a debt.especially a pdl.file the report, and complaints.then ignore his sorry a$$.he can't anything he threatens, and it's all bullsh*t to get money out of you.

I agree with others; file the reports and hang up when they call. If you DO feel like talking to them, ask them to send you something in writing on company letterhead stating that you DO owe a legal debt, etc., see what they say to that. But I'm betting you'll never receive any such letter, these people are bottomfeeders.

Hi,

There can be a lot of ways to stop harassment calls,as it had been already discussed by others, what I would advice you to do is to let them know about the FDCPA laws once they call you, which provides the guidelines seeking to collect only legitimate debts, while providing protection and remedies to debtors.
