Does anyone know of a good place to apply for a consolidation loan? I need $50,000 to get myself out of the hole. I do not own a home, so any refinancing loan is not going to work. Am I completely helpless?

Do your research before you sign up for a debt consolidation loan. If its an unsecured loan the interest rate may be very high. Credit counseling may help. The Dept of Justice has a list of approved agencies by state on their website.
A good accredited counselor with many non profit companies will not charge you up front.
