Debt validation letter

Would you give more information on a debt validation letter? My elderly mother received a letter from RJM acquistions with her wrong name on official looking billing statement and a partial SSN that is not hers. She never made these purchases they are claiming that have not been paid since 1997. Sounds like ID theft to me!

Simply send a letter "disputing" the debt, that the SSI is wrong and wrong name. Tell them never to contact your mother again by any means. Send it certified mail, return receipt requested.
