Anyone heard of M&E Associates? Went to make a payment on this website www.meassociates.org, but stopped. It looked really fishy. Let me know what you think.

who are they collecting for?did you receive anything in writing?if not what kind of calls if any have you been getting?one rule of thumb is go with your gut.did a quick search and found nothing but complaints.a bottomfeeder if there ever was one.use the number they gave,or that came up on caller id to file AG,and FTC complaints.i'm guessing you never received anything in writing.file the complaints, and do not speak to them again.

My husband got something in the mail, and then a phone call from someone at the 'sheriff's office" letting us know that he was going to be served court papers for this debt. Gave us a 1-800 to call, and then he settled it for 1/3rd off the debt. I went to go pay at this website, and stopped because it had no secure payment icon, and no legal jargon about "collecting debts" etc... Had my husband call small claims court today to see if infact there was a claim in prgress, and they have nothing on file. I am not giving this website A DIME!

From what I understand from a recent dateline episode this is a scam. Check them out and make sure before you make any arrangements. Also check out the SOL for the state you live in.

If you ask for anything in writing and they don't comply, be worried. If they do, it means they're aware that they're legally responsible for whatever they provide. It's simple. I've dealt with these types before - some will give you what you ask for in writing and others won't. If they don't, it means that you can't track back whatever it is they're trying to collect on. If they do, then chances are they're not BSing you.
