I live in the state of Washington and between 1 and 5 years ago have taken out several (porbably over 12) payday loans. And irrigarless of wether or not they have been paid I do not believe that they're practices are right nor could possibly be legal.

With the exception of two of the loans, they were all done online. After reading a few of these forums I have started requesting documentation in regards to the original lender, the amount, and date they were signed for. I have yet to receive any documentation of that kind.

To top all of this off, I have been getting phone calls at work, after having told them to stop calling me at work, and they introduce themselves as Deputy So and So and Officer So and So. The other day one of them, a foreignor from India with a very heavy accent, preceeded to tell one of my co-workers that I had commited bank fraud (I work for a bank) and that they are trying to gain my employment information to arrest me. They declined to provide their contact information after being asked several times for it. Another collector told me that my job might be in jeopardy because I work for a bank, he kept asking me, don't they care that you are activly commiting bank fraud (all accounts the dir depo were made to have since been closed. Owing more than one company my bank or payday lender is not something I am interested in. ) At this point I just don't know what to do but file for bankruptcy, but in the mean time can they continue to do what they are doing, how do I send them a do not call letter if I have no information for them. I am running out of excuses as to why these people keep calling for me and it's not like I want to opening discuss my financial down falls witht he people that I work with.

Please help in regards to how I go about getting the information that I need. I have gone through my credit report, but know they are not all on there. These foreignors just refuse to provide me with contact information which makes it very hard to even try and pay if I could. I refuse to give them my financial information for auto withdrawal, what do I do? Where do I go for help?

You can search your lenders in the site. Over the years many of the payday lenders have been discussed in this board by our members. It would also help you in deciding your future course of action. Meanwhile, you may also check the pdl laws and legality of your lenders in your stat. You may check out the following on dealing with unlicensed lenders as well and proceed accordingly.

IMO its not wise to file for BK over illegal payday loans.

Keep your chin up. I started by figuring out what payday loans I had, whether they were legal or not, how much I took out on them, how much I paid and made a list of every payment. This seemed to help a little bit when contacting them. You can search each individual company in the search box to find out any information on that company (addresses, etc.). I love this site. It has helped so much. You will make it through this. Good luck.
