car repossed and compay trying to sue

i have a debt collection company sueing me for a car that was repossed 7 years ago and they are taking me to court. this is not the company i bought the car from it is a company that bought the loan. the original company repossed the car and sold it for two thousand dollars and this new company is trying to sue me for $25,000.00 on a hyndai that i paid for for 3 years. what can i do?

How do you know they're suing? Have you received a summons? Were you ever contacted prior to receiving a summons? What state do you live in? This may be past SOL. Did you pay off the difference between the auction amount and what you still owed on the vehicle? If so, do you have proof?
