Okay... Here is the story... They sent me a letter about something I have no idea about. This was after a month of contacting and leaving illegal phone messages and speaking to an old roommate that I have committed check fraud. Really? I had to get security clearance where I work... Do not think they would have hired a fraud for that... Anyhow... Yes... their fax number... DC... their 800 number matches nothing in toll free directory assistance. Their phone number with area code matches nothing in Las Vegas NV. NOTHING. The people that have left messages are not listed as attorneys in the Nevada Bar Association. In fact, DRG is not recognized either. Considering they claim they are a law firm. The best... The letter sent to me had a window with the NV address, but it had a Rochester NY postmark.I am in process of filing complaints with my Attorney General, the FTC, etc.

The exact thing just happened to me. I knew they were a collections company based on their tactics. I repeatedly asked him to provide me with verification of the debt he was trying to collect (who, what, when, where, terms of the debt, etc.) Rather than agreeing to mail me something he would put me on hold and then come back asking me to verify personal information...I insisted that I would not verify any personal information to anyone that just called me out of the blue and he would continue to put me on hold. Would come back after a few minutes and ask me something else..."You own and Year Make Model car, correct?" My answer would be either "no" or "I have told you I am not answering personal questions"...on hold I would go again. After he emailed me a scanned copy of what appeared to be a letter from the NV address I still asked him for validation or evidence that I owe this debt and he started with the personal verification items again. When he finally realized I was not going to agree to anything or provide him any form of payment he started shouting at me saying "I know everything about you" "I am calling the police to have them pick up you a** and through you in jail". Then the idiot hung up.
I am also in the process of filing complaints with my Attorney General, the FTC, etc.

Hi, these people also called me and my family too, today in fact. They actually threatened my brother with a warrant because he refused to provide any details about me to them. They also called my mother a few minutes later and gave her a "case number." I got upset and called them at the number they left my mom and asked them what they wanted. They said that I owed a payday loan taken out from February 2008 with a company I have never heard of. They had my SSN and DOB information. (The last payday loan I took out was in 2007). They said they had a civil summons for me. I told them I had no idea what they were talking about and that I would have to consult with my attorney. The next thing I know, the line went dead. The number was 702-479-5240. I did talk to my attorney's assistant, but he will not be in the office until tomorrow. My brother is also interested in pressing charges because they threatened him with a warrant. The thing that scares me is: A. I never took out a payday loan with the company they mentioned. B. How are they getting my information and what do they intend to do with it?. C. What can be done about this? This is happened a few times in the last several months to me. I'm really sick of it and scared out of my mind sometimes. Needless to say, it is putting a strain on the relationship with my family.
Hi, I am aware of the tactics these companies use. PLEASE PAY AT
Hi, I am aware of the tactics these companies use. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION AND DO NOT BE FEARED BY ANYTHING THEY THREATEN U WITH. They are a collections company who buys old debt for a cheap price and boost the balance. Being that these legit accounts go from company to company, they might have been paid already to another company. They send you a letter, then another, then have machines leave messages on your voicemail or an actual person will leave a message on your voicemail. Then using a computer software, they are able to find your specific information such as house rent or owned, loans taken, cars bought, anything involving assets. Then they contact your employer with an employment verification to make you think they can garnish your wages- THEY WILL NOT. THEY CAN NOT. DO NOT BE FOOLED. It is up to you to know your rights. Take a deep breath and do not worry, if the courts of any county is contacting you, you will have a VERY LEGIT SUMMONS not a letter from a collections company. Ask these questions and then simply hang up: "Sir or mam, you are an attorney? Then you are aware of a cease and desist request, correct? Do not contact myself, relatives or anyone you may have on record involving my account. You may only contact me through mail and when you do, I would like the original documents with my signature for the debt you say I owe, along with the original creditor and original delinquent date. If you contact me or anyone I know for this account, I will file a claim to my attorney general." And hang up the phone. If you have a way to record them then do so, it may benefit you very much, but to make it legit you must say this call is recorded. Many people do not know how many laws these collections companies break. FDCPA<-google it. You will find this information very helpful. Just so you know, by law in every state, if you request a cease and desist, they must stop calling you or anyone for the account. They will send you mail, by law they can, don't even pay any mind to the mail. Trust me when I say this, after a few months of trying to contact you, they will sell all unpaid accounts to another company so they can get some of the money back that they spent on the accounts. Lastly but most important, STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS. After so many years of collecting on an account, companies cannot collect on a debt that is old. It is pass the statute of limitations; you will also find this on FDCPA site. DO NOT BE AFRAID, this world is revolving around money. They need money to progress just like any other business, some will do or say what ever they can to get the money however they get shut down. There is evidence of illegal activity everywhere when it's a collections company, so do not worry yourself. I REPEAT please, do not be in fear, I know how you feel, and I learned they cannot do any of which they claim! Your credit report is not affected, they cannot suspend your license, they cannot put you "in jail", or whatever other crazy threats they make. DO NOT BE WORRIED, this is a common practice in small collections companies that do not think they can benefit by following the law. Be fear-free, they cannot do anything to you!!
One of our clients brought a collection letter in from DRG & Ass
One of our clients brought a collection letter in from DRG & Assoc in Las Vegas. We mailed reply (not indebted whatsoever), but the Las Vegas address on our client's letter is no good. The postal service returned our letter to DRG as "attempted - not known". DO NOT PAY these people.
