Please Help, Is This Legal??
Date: Wed, 05/26/2010 - 12:16
I live in TN. In Jan. 2008 I filed chapter 7 bankruptcy, it was all discharged in May 2008 with no problem. I was supposed to receive a settlement in August 2008 due to a wrongful death case involving my father that happened in 2003. Since I was suppose to receive this settlement the same year I filed bankruptcy, I had had to pay back over $10,000 of debt to creditors which I was all ready released. I didn't get the remainder of my settlement until May 2009. I just want to know if this is legal and sounds right? I would really appreciate ANY answers I could get, because for almost 2 years now I can't get any answers or help at all!
Thanks so much!

Yes, this is legal. Your attorney should have advised of that before you went bankrupt. Any sort of money that you come into 6months after filling, is fair game for your creditors.
