I have a credit card bill 9 months past due, The collections dept is threatening to turn me over to an attorney. I am on disability. I was also on when I obtained card. Can they take my ssdi check?

My adult son is on disability and I called his creditors to set up payments. If you tell them this, alot of them will work with you, but you have to make sure that you can make the payemnts before you do this.

I know SSI cannot be tuched, but I am not sure about SSDI. I know where we live, they cannot take your SSI check for child support, but if you are on SSDI, they will withhold some for child support. But that is a different ballgame than what you are talking about.

Figure out what you can pay and then call them, you have nothing to loose..karen
