i got a call from the bam about a pay dAy loan that i havent heard from in 2 years. I listen to there threat of "if you dont make an arrangment today, legal action is going to happen. Well i was stupid enough to give them my debit card number and they told me i will have to pay 3 payments of 130 dollars at the end of the next 3 months. I asked them to send documentation of this agreement and they agreed to. Its been 2 weeks no paperwork so therefore i closed my checking account before they took the funds. I recieved a call today saying that if i dont pay by 5:00 PM, i was going to get served summons for check fraud. When talked to the supervisor he told me the paperwork was mailed 2 days ago and should be here Next Wednesday. I told him thats when he should expect a payment. He then told me that i still had to pay today paperwork or not. Then some idiot of caller told he was sending me and email with the information and said that its going to take a while to get thru the system. I have called the attorney general's and was to told not to speak with them again. Now the debt true and i dont want to go to court. What should i do? I am from baton rouge, la.

You did the right thing in not paying before you get verification. The collections people were lying to you when they said they would serve you with a summons for check fraud, so many collection agencies use this as a tactic to scare people into paying them. You do not and should not pay without a verification letter, and they cannot sue you for a debt you do not owe them.
