Oxford Management Services - Third Party Contact
Date: Fri, 05/28/2010 - 19:51
Hey everyone! One of my medical bills was placed with Oxford Management Services. I found out they left a message at my parents' house and left a message for me. It was one of those messages that stated if the person listening Is not me to hang up. My problem is I've never used my parents' number as my contact number. I live over 1,000 miles from them and have never lived at the residence they live at, nor have I lived in that state. I am curious to know if them contacting a third party and saying they are a debt collector still falls under the fair debt collections act as a violation. Thanks for your time
It most certainly does consitute a violation. More and more lat
It most certainly does consitute a violation. More and more lately, we're seeing debt collectors leaving messages like this on answering machines--be advised that people have sued and won over a message like this. It is NOT LEGAL AT ALL for them to state that they are calling for a specific person in an attempt to collect a debt on a voicemail. They are only allowed to disclose that information to the specific person in question.
