Settle Discover For 50%

Settling with Discover is a tough one.

As with most cc's, the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.
And the brain is wondering "are those my hands?".

congrats! I didn't have a Discover Card, but Cap One did the same thing to me. Settled one and they won't settle the other - went to charge off.

Keep everyone posted on how you do on that last one.

Can you give the name and number of the person on the settlement letter?

Discover told me today they "don't do settlements."

I got to get a settlement with Discover for 60%, after very rough conversations. They want a one lump sum pay check by phone, which I have to open an account to deduct the fund. ( Because that will be my only proof that I have sent money).I closed my previous account because someone had made himself a check from my funds and didn't want it to happen again. And they don't send the settlement letter. he said after it is in Discovers had.Also today the rep told me that the amount that the forgive is written on the credit report as charged off. I am not quite convinced that for that amount anyone else will go after me later. And he said no and it has to be done Discovers way. Can anyone tell me please if these people when you call are trustworthy. Some info I had told them was never written in the computer and I had a hard time just telling them I was telling the truth. They are very pushy and exhausting. Stacy66

Sounds like they just trying to get you to pay 60% and selling the remainder of the debt to a third-party collector. This doesn't sound like a settlement with no further balance owed.
