Since I have never worked with a debt settlement company I'm not sure about this, but had heard this several times which is why I settled my debts myself to avoid a problem. Do a search on this site and see if you can find someone who used a company and got a settlement. You might also want to google it and see what comes up. just make sure the settlement letters they have posted are recent since cc policies change frequently.

cancel your debt settlement program.. you can also tell the ds firm that you want to take chase accounts out of it and leave the rest in it. chase does have a payment program, i cant remember what it is called, but do a www search for "chase hardship programs" and you will find it. the one i am talking about they drop the interest to 0% until paid off and will set up payments at what you can afford, but you do have to pay the full balance. we talked to them before we missed a payment, and i didnt know about this particular program, as you have to be behind to get into it. so we were reduced to 6% interest and reduced payments til paid off. however, i may call and tell them we can not make these payments any longer and see if they will put us into the one with 5 percent.
