HI there, i just got a letter from dsc law firm-regent management and I don't know if i should pay them. i called the number they gave me but it doesn't seem to be a working number. I called us bank and they said it might have been sold to a third party collection agency but don't know if they sold it again maybe to regent? I saw the same posts as the same letter i got in the mail. don't know if i should pay them.

I know I do owe the debt to Us bank in 2008. I called the bank today and they gave me their recovery systems phone number but you can only leave a name and number. The bank said they might have already sold it again. I just want to make sure it is going to the right place. I've seen a lot of post about dsc law firm-regent management that says if i don't pay them in 14 days they will sue. This is the first letter I got from them. I think it just said that I owe us bank and they are willing to settle the interest of what I owe...so i don't know what i should do.

OVLG, Attorney - How come many creditor in their initial letter quote something along the line " if you dispute the debt than we will obtain a judgment against you . " This really makes no sense. How can you get a judgment against someone who is disputing a debt.

By sending a debt verification letter can they simply file a law suit and bring the letter with them to the court ?

I really haven't dealt much with junk debt buyer, only with initial and first collection agency.

easy because they don't want you send the DV letter.therefore disputing the debt.i think it's called overshadowing, and it violates the FDCPA.btw a debt verification is not the way to go.debt validation is.anybody can verify you owe a debt.heck you just did on your post.validation is more complex.the collector must provide something from the OC(original creditor).anyplace that threatens what you stated must be sent a debt validation letter at once.as OVLG attorney stated send it certified mail return receipt.btw regent is a bottomfeeder.send the letter asap.
