Utility Shut off

I'm past due on my uitilities right now. They sent out a disconnect notice so I contacted them to see what payment arrangements were available. None of the options they gave me are possible right now. I want to know if I can have the service put into my roommate's name, as if I moved out, in order to avoid disconnection? Anyone have any info?

Your room mate would have to call and set up new service with the utility companies. That may help you avoid disruption in service but you will still owe the money.Which utilities are you talking about? Gas? Electric? Water?
