I was going through my credit records and find that two different dates are listed for removal on a creditor. One report shows estimated date on 04/2008 and another shows 4/2006. It was placed for collection on 12/2001 and was closed or paid on 8/2003. I know that by law they have up to 7 years to report it, but it is not written in stone. So can I complain to them and have them remove it on 4/2006?

timothy123, you are right, negative information stays in the credit report from the date of reporting which in your case is 12/2001. This account will be marked as 'paid collection' in your file. Send a letter of dispute to the bureau highlighting this item and request them to update your file.

Once the changes are made, a free copy of your CR will be sent to your mailing address.
