Someone passed this number for BOA on another thread....and I thank them...whoever it is. with everything going on, I forgot who it was...but want to say a BIG THANK YOU....I am so glad I found this group and am looking to pay it forward!!!

the number for Senior Account is: 1-866-429-1097

they are the most helpful and have the most knowledge. they are willing to settle my husband's debt at 20-25%. However, this is after 4 months deliquent. But at least it is a fair settlement...wait longer and you may do better, but my anxiety could not take any more. My husband owes about $85,000....

thank you everyone !!!

Hello

Ben and King Jabba.....we just received 4 letters outlining my husband's settlement......one had the wrong account # on it so we need to redo....best number and settlement of all....using that number you gave Ben....thanks so much. We called other BOA #s for settlement and got the run around...always something different....found a great gal there who is walking us through it....she even told me that she had once been in trouble with her debt!

However, we made verbal settlement with Chase....I believe a guy from India who was real nice and said he would send us a settlement letter via snail mail...never got it...called back and asked them to fax it tonight....still nothing...just want to be done

I am trying to 'settle" husband's accounts while making payment plans for mine.....Citi is willing to "settle" my accounts but will not set up a hardship plan or any payment plan...prior to the last 4-5 months our credit was always stellar....at one point, one rep told me that I would qualify for a promo rate of 1% interest...I said I would call back in a few days after talking with family...and when I did ...the next rep said there was nothing offered on the account ...pay it off or settle...no payment or hardship plans....doesn't make sense does it.

I am trying to somewhat save my credit a bit....while having my husband settle his accounts....but only have so much money from my family to make this work. Any ideas or suggestion for Citi??? or Chase

Thank God I found you guys....I would recommend anyone dealing with BOA call that number ....honestly like Ben said they are the most on the ball and work with you.

we are about 1/3 of the way there. Also Dell is willing to work out a hardship plan.

any suggestions again would be appreciated....I sometimes don't find my posts immediately after I post??? oh well, at least I found you all again!

Posting also to record my journey for others.....

OP you are on track to success. Many bank will absolve your debt when debtor displays willingness to resolve outstanding balance. Kudos to you on that.

Your credit will not be demolish because of your husbands willingness to settle with the creditors. You should keep in mind that with any settlement, a possibility of notifying credit bureau exist. Very small risk considering that your eliminating your debt forever and good.

You should avoid making settlement payments to creditors who provide verbal commitment as lack of evidence exist, invalid to court system. It may take few phone calls before settlement letter is mailed or fax to you . Fax letter tends to take few days after initial request for delivery.

If your having difficulty find your post, than you may want to consider registering an account with debtconsolidationcare forum.

Remember that any settlement must be in writing before making payments. If the creditor refuses to mail a settlement letter prior to arrangement, than consider speaking with a manager who has authority to send the letter.

Good luck.

Jill, I am the OP and many here have helped me....so quickly too!!! Yes, my husband and I had 5 accounts (he went off the deep end as his business was failing) and they are settling all 4 of his accounts and are willing to work with me on mine....that number has been golden for me....honestly....I called BOA and FIA #s and heard many different stories...non consistent and some unhelpful....we contacted a gal at that number and she has already sent my husband and I four settlement letters. Later when I get more organized, I will post debt and settlement amounts.

they were most willing to set up a payment plan even on the settlements.....give them a call...what have you got to lose.....try for 25%....that is about what we got! Citi is still sticking with 40%....
good luck to you Jill....let us know how you are doing.

OP, you should consider settlement with citi bank at 40% as they're rough creditors to deal with . They won't think twice prior to sending your case to attorney who will not take less than 70%. Take it from myself who was sued by citibank several time.

Not sure if you have discover card, but discover will not settle less than 50%. Though I throw that out there.

I cheer your success on debt settlement program.

Good luck to you.

Ben, thanks again....we are finding this out....I had a deal that showed up for about a minute for 1% interest and then it disappeared (when I called back two days later after talking to my family who is helping me)....my husband can't get them to negotiate much either....we were late just over 120 days.....they had sent us to what they call pre-litigation.....I'm just writing in to confirm what you said and let others know. I had so wanted to work out a payment plan.
Ben, have you been able to reestablish credit at all.....all I want to do is to be able to reestablish credit....??? thanks again Ben....appreciate it. Settled about $10,000 worth of debt to Chase for $2,500.....paid it! that is our first one. Will be settling BOA and Citi this week. It's good to have feedback!

as far as calling the B of A Sr. Accnt # - can i ask how you handled the call? did you let them offer a % and then negotiate? or did you offer a % first? getting ready to make that call in the next couple days, so any input/pointers/things to say or avoid is more than appreciated!

We were proceeding with Bankruptcy when I found this board....so all of our accounts were 90-120 or more days late....
Others may be able to tell you how much communication to have with the CCs as you go along. As for me, I was in such shock, I called some of them immediately and some I did not....but then I waited and called at 3 months late to tell them we were filing BK. That was a big mistake for settling...it complicates matters....but enough said!

To be quite honest.....I may have done it differently ....I called at 120 days late (give or take a few days) and asked them what settlement plan they could offer me. I told them my story in detail (probably too much detail) and I asked what they could do for me as far as settling. The BOA Senior account rep...was wonderful....we had A LOT of debt and they settled at 25-27% ....we were very lucky. I am on a hardship program for one credit card in my name too. So, I hope this helps.....How far along are you in the process....sorry I did not see your post earlier....
I have been working nonstop for the past 2 weeks on this and I am down to two credit cards of my husband's business to settle. Citi was the hardest...or lowballed us.
We had extraordinary debt...and i am grateful for the advice I received here....
Please post any questions and someone will try to help you...I will look out for you too!!!

yup - i found it - thanks! i called today, was told that each month accounts are "stamped" with the lowest they will go and for this month mine is stamped at 30%. the problem is doing that in just 3 months - when i said that, she advised that i can wait until next month to see what my "stamp" is and also there is something called the "recovery department" where the % they will accept may be a little higher, but can be for longer terms..... so i guess that i'll see what july holds.... unless i hit the lottery or something!

HI K....this is debtor in CA the OP.....yes, we got our best offers at 120 days....we are just down to one Capitol one card now....Good luck to you and I bet that they will settle for 25%......at least.
For one of my cards with BOA, we had $12,000 worth of debt and they offered me a payment plan where I paid $1400 to bring it up to date and then $230 mo for 60 at 3.5% interest. I had to do that because we ran out of money that we borrowed from family. that makes it difficult but I wanted to give you an idea of how their "hardship" plan worked for us......If you decide on a payment plan, you can work it out with this same department...the same phone # above. I did and they were most helpful! Best of luck to you and please keep us up to date on how you are doing.
