I have one credit card left to pay off and cannot seem to get there. We have emptied out our savings to pay off so much debt for over a year now. And now that we are so close with one card left, things keep popping up where we have to use it for emergencies. Any ideas as to how to break this cycle and get this last credit card paid off? Help please!

Let me ask you one question if it is OK! If you did not have this card how would you have handled these situations that keep "popping up?" I do not want to appear cold or indifferent but there is no financial pit or trap that I have not experienced! It is so easy to run to Mommy credit card when things get tough! I know! I have been there! But Mommy does not have your best interest in mind! Is there anything that you can purge from your life that you will never miss? My wife and I sold some broken gold jewelry that she had from years ago to pay our rent and gave a lot of things to charity to help others in worse shape than us! We did a flea market and I wrote ads on Craigs List for a real estate company for 50 cents each! Right now my wife is calling people back who need their bubble gum machines refilled. I have been unemployed for 79 weeks! Somehow by the grace of God we got by! Key! We never stopped giving or helping others! I am not saying you do not but if you don't, try it! It works!

Great advice! I also think that you may have to come to terms with the fact that sometimes there just isn't money for the pop up items. Unless it's medical or something like that you just have to wait until you have the money saved up - then buy it.

To get a real handle on your stuff - go to the library and check out the Dave Ramsey books. They are fantastic and will give you all kinds of ideas to get you to where you want to go.

Greetings,

Dave's got great information (hope this doesn't count as an advertisement)
Listen to his show via the archived files.

There's always some stuff that you can sell off.
Believe me, I know.

It's been an incredible journey gaining my debt freedom.
The garage is lighter and the debt burden has been lifted.
