I am new to this site, and am looking for any advice or information that anyone may have. A few years back I was in a car accident that left me with hospital bills that are overwhelming to even think about. I was making payments on them regularly until I lost my job, and I couldn't afford to any more. My bills were then sent to multiple collection agencies, and now I can not even open a bank account(which I just found out). I am wondering if there is anything I can do to put me back in line, so that I can open an account with out paying all of them off in full. If I set up payment plans with the collection agencies, would that help? Or should I contact the hospital directly and just deal with them? I am just trying to figure out what to do, and dont know very much about collection agencies, or how to handle this in the most efficient way. Any advice?

Amgail, I would recommend checking out the consolidation information available on this site. It just might be the best way for you to go. The folks who work in debt consolidation are trained to deal with collection agencies and creditors and so they are better able to negotiate with them than you would be. Give them a call or fill out the form and see what they have to say. Finding this site may be the lucky break you need!
