We settled with Chase for $2,500 for a $10,000 debt...they sent us a contract...not quite as well-written as BOA.....we paid and now I start worrying......they snail-mailed us the contract so that by the time it got here...the first payment was due today (Sunday) ....we just paid the whole balance of $2,500 and now I wake up at 4AM worried .......
anyone have any dealings with Chase and any experience with settling with them...how did they handle your credit report?
I just don't want them to come back and say we owe the rest of the debt that they settled on.....I think I am just frazzled......

yes!!! we have a contract....it was set up for payments....talked to a representative who said we would be receiving a statement with zero balance in the mail....we do have a contract.....that talks about all payment collections will cease if we honor the contract....thanks soaplady....I just am so worried all the time and want to be done....

I settled my chase accounts via the settlement department over the phone.
Got a confirmation number in advance for each payment.
They drafted on the agreed upon dates and now they can't chase me anymore.
If in doubt, call'em up.
And go online and look at the check when it drafts.

should have gottent the confirmation # but will follow up today.....like I said by the time we got the written agreement to settle, it was due.....we are working on so much of our debt ...it is hard to keep track of everything.....even with a list! But we are working quickly toward resolution like you dear Jabba....bTW someday, I'll ask you about the origins of your screen name....
You all have been so great to me....I will post all of my resolutions to help others when they come...it is like a full time job, but needs to be done...thanks again for the quick responses!! I am just so dag gone paranoid.....probably rightfully so!

If you can fiddle around with an xl spreadsheet they are two payoffs;
1. you become extremely organized as to the record of events with cc balances, last contact, what they said, telephone numbers......days to charge off, etc.
2. it makes you take charge of the overall situation and actually becomes fun.
