If you dont have any credit it is unlikely that you will be able to open up enough credit lines to pay off his debt. Plus it wont come off his credit per se. Plus why would you want to? I would highly suggest you talk do a divorce attorney...marriage is a joint venture and there is no reason why YOU should be responsible for all his debt. 50% maybe but not all of it.

Greetings,
If the guy opened up the cc's under his name, it may be somewhat difficult to assume his debt.
But what ever the scenario is....tell us the creditors and the amount of debt.
In generalities please tell us the creditor/amount/days past due.
Ther's a lot of folks in here that have been down that road.
Good luck,

You would need to apply for new credit cards or personal loan and them use that to pay off the debt in his name. Now your card or line of credit has the debt on it and his has a zero balance. You will need to qualify based on credit score and income.
but if you think that you can transfer this into our name and then turn around and settle it the next month or so you will be mistaken. Since it will be a new account I really doubt that they will settle with you. Most of us had our cards for years and years before hitting hard times and having to settle.
I also suggest that you see a divorce attorney and get good legal advise before doing anything.
