Settlement with Beneficial and Wells Fargo

I am considering attempting to settle some of my accounts. I am current or less than 30 late on all of them, but am having a difficult time making the payments. I am most concerned about the unsecured Beneficial personal line of credit of $10,000 and Wells Fargo Financial Bank credit card of $7,000. Does anyone know anything about these companies making settlements? I would hate to completely ruin my credit just to have them tell me that they won't settle.

Please let me know anything you know about these companies.

I think at one time they may have been affiliated with House Hold Finanace.

In fact the web sites are almost identical.

They usually won't settle until 100 days plus.
