Jacobi and Mayors IS Ellis Crosby
Date: Sat, 01/21/2006 - 12:51
Anyway Mr. Rain told me that Criminal Charges were already being downloaded into my state's system and he was unsure if her could stop it. He then came back on the line and told me he spoke with his supervisor and since I was a nice guy with no criminal records he would stop the process and affidavit from going through if I paid 572.50 through a money gram express. This could only be done at Wal-mart. I said oh like Western Union, and he stated no sir, we no longer use Western Union (For those of you who are unaware, Western Union will not allow any further scams from Mr Ellis to continue through their company)
I was given a 2 hour deadline. I said okay. Then I promptly called a friend of mine who is chief of police in a small town, and was told it is not illegal to have a debt, most people have them, but to pay it back, also I am more than likely not commiting fraud, and to research the company further, and since I have not been served with papers, that there is nothing to worry about. You aren't automatically going to jail without due reason.
I felt good and called my lawyer who stated I should call Mr. Rain back at 1 and explain some laws to him, and have him fax over information. Which I did and Mr. Rain said no, deals over and he told me I best trust my attorney as he was going to proceed with criminal actions. I am still waiting for the cops to show up at my door :) I am paying back FSM, so I am not concerned about this. Also Mr. Rain told me I was not to call back NOR would he provide me with a mailing address so I can send him some stuff. Too bad :(
Anyway being the irked man I was, I called back on a different line and asked for Ellis Crosby, that gal told me that Mr. Crosby was out, and he could call me back on Monday if I would like. I said oh no, I would call back then. I am sure I lucked out on that one. Anyway EVERYONE BEWARE, and be tough. Yes you owe your debts and you should pay them. If anyone is interested in this company their phone numbers are 321-206-4136 and 800-830-5927.

And, there are many more fake names of this company still to be added in this list. Check the other threads in this forum for posts on them. Many people who have experienced their call posted in this forum as well as complained to the concerned authorities.
Jacoby and Mayors
I have received calls from this company as well. I reported them to the FTC at FTC.gov. This is what everyone should do that hears from them. Once the FTC receives an influx of calls they will initiate an investigation into this company.
I find it downright hysterical that everyone at this company has such bland American names and all have very deep accents.
I send a certified letter to them asking for a copy of the original bill and still have received nothing. I just got another call today, from Jessica, and when I told her I reported them to the FTC she hung up on me. For some reason I don't think I'll get too many more calls from them.

Shawna
Keep a copy of your letter and the green copy of the certified letter in safe place. This will prove that you took the responsibility to pay the account and the company needed to give you the details. In case the matter reaches the court, you will hold a stronger point and the judge will take decisions in your favor.
Have you checked your credit report? Sometimes, the collectors hit the credit file and as a result lower the credit scores. You must make sure that the company has not hit your file without a legitimate purpose.

Forgive me for the old thread....is Jackobi and Mayor AKA as Ellis Crosby and Assoc? I was just reading some old posts and came across this one. If they are I have dealt with them and have filed a complaint against the BBB of Wyoming and the FTC...Just curious...

United Federation Department of Law
My assistant received a phone call from the United Federation Department of Law and left the following number 321-206-4136; I knew she had been having some financial problems recently so I 'Googled' the number and found this forum. I immediately called 'Michael' back and gave him the what for about calling an employee's place of work and leaving harassing messages. He said "did she tell you I am harassing her" I said no she hasn't said that, however, you have called here before and spoke with me, at that time you worked for a "different company", his reply "how do you know it was me"? "Your mid eastern accent is very recognizable!" Of course he countered with "what is your name", I told him who I was and what my title was, his reply "oh ok, well good luck", and hung up.

Jacobi and Mayors-- where'd they disappear to?
I had gotten these calls from some company earlier in the year claiming to have obtained my file from another resource. When I inquired with agressive questioning, I discovered it was for BMG (Bahamas Marketing Group) payday loan. I told the representative that I had paid that same loan to (same amount) to Jacobi and Mayors. I located my records (unfortunately not the Money Gram receipts) and called the number I had for Jacobi and Mayors (but called Ellis Crosby). The number was a disconnected number, and Money Gram said I had to pay them $20 to do a historical search of the dates the money was paid and for them to retrieve copies of the receipts because the check cashing locations I paid them to did not have the records dating back to the summer of 2005. And now today, I see this number on my cell phone via caller ID and Google it to see who it is from and find that Jacobi and Mayors aka Ellis Crosby has resurfaced. I am reluctant to call the number back as I do not want to get overally frustrated. BMG hasn't gotten their money after I paid over $700 to Ellis Crosby. If I had not had the information I had which included who the money was paid to, the dates paid, and amounts, I would have ended up paying this debt twice. And I later found that this is nothing out of the ordinary that consumers end up paying the same debt more than once before realizing it.
Be careful of these so-called collection agency calling you. And when you pay off a payday loan, make sure they submit a letter acknowledging receipt of all money paid and that the account is closed, and be sure to contact the loan company right away and let them know the money you paid to that company. Or better yet, if you are able to, pay it directly to the company which will cut out the collection agency altogether. And keep all receipts of who you pay.
DON'T be afraid of threats and debt collection tactics that debt
DON'T be afraid of threats and debt collection tactics that debt collector here seems to think is okay and endorses always--said companies always threaten you--how else could they coerce you into paying anything? Mostof them never follow through on threats and simply move on to next victim! But if they have actually threatened you in any way--sue them first and see how they like it!

If you get a call from any firm associated with Crosby (a convicted felon, now being sued by the Florida AG), just hang up and send a cease communications letter. Also, file a complaint with the Florida AG as well as the one in your state. If they contact you again after recieving the letter (except to acknowledge they got it), sue them.
