I live in Florida and owe a debt. A law office called and said they have been contracted by the collection agency to collect the debt. The compnay i owed the money to charged the account off and sold it on 4/13/2001. I want to pay so i asked them to send me a writting what owed and break down of charges. They said that they are not obligated to do so. What are my choices seeing that the SOL in florida is five years fron the date of last payment.

next time they call demand details in writing.this debt is way past SOL,and this place might not have any legal right to collect.the reason they say they are not obligated to send details is more than likely they have none.a couple of questions.

what kind of debt is this.
did this supposed law office threaten you in any way.by that i mean threats of immediate garnishment(florida is a non-garnishment state).

i doubt this is a real law office.sounds like a JDB that hides behind the law firm lie.demand details in writing and state you will not speak to them again until you get those.it is your right inder federal law.
