Last week I posted about receiving a phone call from a collection agency regarding a PDL that I had no knowledge of taking in 2008. The collection agency just sent me the collection letter and I know I have to now send out a debt validation letter. Can anyone help me with how to draft a debt validation letter for a PDL that is illegal as I am in the State of NJ? Also the debt is not on my credit report as of right now. Any help I would really appreciate it.
Also one other thing, since I just recieved the collection letter when the collection agency calls do I tell them that I am sending a DV letter or not tell them anything?
Thanks

There are templates for validation letters in the DIY section that will work in any state. If the collection agency calls again, do tell them you've sent them a validation letter and refuse to talk to them unless they validate.
