I received 2 calls yesterday morning and this evening from a Officer Robert Backum ( sp ) stating that I should not ignore his call and this a time sensitive matter. He spoke in a thick accent. I do not know the exact dialect. He also claims there have been several complaints filed against me. A few months ago I received some calls from an agency that was bogus trying to get me to pay on old pay day loans that we pd. in full. After successfully blocking their calls and letting the one that slipped through go to voice mail I hadn't heard a thing. Now this " Officer " is calling and I'm nervous about the whole thing. The number he leaves to return the call is 716-541-0015 which is in Buffalo, New York. Any help with would be greatly appreciated.

Don't talk to them on the phone, don't call them, but DO file a complaint with the FTC and your attorney general's office. This has been happening a lot lately, there are multiple threads at this forum where members have received similar calls, with bogus threats. I repeat, THIS IS A SCAM!

I assumed as much. Just needed to hear that I wasn't alone in this. Do, you know how I can block this nut from calling me ? He has left the number in NY to call him back at but, when he called it came up unavailable and 0000. Verizon says it has to be a complete number to block it on their end. Any advice ?

Talk to Verizon, tell them you are receiving harassing calls, they will have a record and will change your phone number free if you explain. That's what I would do.

Oh My God. It never ends. I received so far this morning 2 seperate calls from a man claiming to be from the Legal Dept. of Easy Cash, saying his name was Daniel Jackson ( I bet ) and to call him back at 323-205-3205. The second call was from a man stating he was from a company called APS Services and his name was Steve Marshall, ( again, I bet ) and to call him back at 512-229-0184. I am so tired of these calls. Does anyone have any info on either of these company's or the numbers associated with them ? Thanks.
