I have a credit card with Chase in which I can not pay. I have been making small payments but they are not going to make them happy. I emailed them and they refused to communicate with me by email. they keep telling me I must call them. Is this true. I would like communicate through email or mail, not phone. Do I have a right to do this. Can they force me to call them. Not to get into details but speaking on the phone with them is not the best for me. I just want to know do I have a right to request all communications to be by mail.

Thank you

Just give them a call. i don't think you have anything to be worried about. I have dealt with Chase and settled a credit card with them and they were very nice to deal with.

Call them and tell them your hardship and see what options they have for you like reducing the interest rate or their hardship program which could help with the payemnts.

I don't like calling either. I write very well and would prefer dealing with it this way but I am about 3 months into it and I can tell you that you must suck it up and call. For me, I hate calling because I am nice and want to do the right thing and they can make you feel guilty but in this case you must call or take their call at least once a week to stay in the game. The guidelines are simple, stick to your hardship story, don't change the details and stay firm that you cannot pay today. Now for the majority of us that is actually easy since it happens to be the truth.
Another problem I have with calling is I have to find time and privacy from work...this is harder but again, you just have to do it.
The only other problem I know with calling is one that a friend of mine has--easily losing temper. Swallow it, don't do it or you set yourself up for nastiness...remember what Grandma said --'you catch more flies with honey than vinegar'!
