First I have no past due or late bills. Absolutely none. I received a voicemail message from Allied. I did not call them back because the call sounded so mysterious so I was suspicious. They only left their name and number and they said it was very important I call them back but because of the highly sensitive nature of the matter they couldn't say why they were calling. Yeah right. I immediately did an internet search on their name and found many beware of these people sites. I'm in Florida if that matters. What is your advice since I have no old or current past due debt?

I have a question for you, Ari--How do you get collectors to quit calling when they have the wrong number? We have one guy who keeps calling about this lady's cell phone bill--Only I have no clue who she is! Either she put a fake phone number on her application, or maybe she used to have our phone number..Which I'm not sure could be possible since we've had the same phone line for about 15 years...These people don't want to believe that she does not live with us.

You can stop a debt collector from contacting you by writing a letter to the collector telling them to stop. Once the collector receives your letter, they may not contact you again except to say there will be no further contact or to notify you that the debt collector or the creditor intends to take some specific action.Just send a basic letter stating,

This letter is to notify you that I do not wish you to call, write, or visit me at home or work about the money you claim I owe.
By law they must no longer contact you,and since you dont owe any money in the first place, you should never hear from them again.

jd5351,

Use the fdcpa law and stop the collection agency from calling you. Record the phone call if it's permissible in your state otherwise take the permission from the other party about the call being recorded.

Now, while you are recording this call, repeat the entire conversation that proves that you are not the actual person that the CA is trying to contact. This forces them to remove your name from their system. If they are not willing to remove it, you have proof of their incompetence and reasons to file a legal case.
