I spoke nicely regarding my current situation and as the call ended with the manager Angela, slammed the phone down in my ear. Is it that easy for a company to gain an individuals bank routing information just by knowing the name of the bank, as she did?
I don't know if there is any privacy any more here in america.

You mean routing number or account? You can call to get a routing number...account number however wont be disclosed.
The routing number only identifies the bank - the account number
The routing number only identifies the bank - the account number identifies your personal account. So I can call any Bank of America and get their routing number. but can't get the account number for one of their customers.
If you have every paid a bill with a check, they already have your bank information. Sounds like they were trying to scare you by telling you the routing number. If you are that worried about it, close the account and open a new one somewhere else
