I made a payment to them and now I'm out of a job. I called to see if I could postpone future payments for one month. After that the supervisor pretty much went off on me. Luckily I knew to expect this and simply got off the line ASAP. So I'd like to know what I can do now. I realize I should have had them validate the debt, but is it too late? Should I pay them anyway as I can? I made it clear to him that I was not refusing to pay, but that I need more time this month. Of course he said I am refusing to pay, blah blah blah.

Seeking advice...

Who is "them"? If you need some more time to make the payments, you can send in a letter to "them" requesting an alternative payment plan. You can use the sample alternative payment plan letter available with this forum to write one of your own. Send the letter through certified mail, requesting a return receipt.

Yes, you can try sending the letter to National Credit Adjusters. Attach a copy of your monthly income and expenditure along with the letter as proof of your financial hardship.

As for the debt validation, I am afraid you won't be able to do that now. You have made a payment to them, and this proves you have already acknowledged the debt. Debt validation is sent only when you are not sure about the debt.
