getting summmoned

If you get summoned by bridgestone and they did not hand you the summoned personally shouldnt it be ruled out? I always thought that a summoned was suppose to be handed to you by a server?


No, the creditor does not require to hand over the summons to you physically. They can leave it at your door. However, this varies according to the state rules. Some states require that the debtor be personally served with a copy of the summons and complaint. Now, if the sheriff cannot find the debtor, the creditor can send the summons through certified mail to the debtor. Thus, you need to check the laws of your state.
