IWCB Called me again...

I received a message at work from IWCB stating I needed to have my atty call today. I called back and after being transferred around, I got Liz Wade's VM. I left her a message stating I had spoken with Platinum B Services, the account they are trying to collect on, on Friday and was informed that IWCB/Jacobi & Mayors is not authorized to do collections for them. I let her know I have filed complaints with the FTC and BBB and have a call in to the Atty General in Wyoming. I have also asked she stop calling me. Should I still send the cease and desist letter? Do you think I handled it correctly? Thanks.

Yes, you have done the right thing :D

Can you remember how worried you were on the other day when they called you first? You expected someone there at your door to arrest you! See, no one came at last. These are scaring tactics that collectors use. If creditors have to take legal actions against debtors, it should be done through court.

I do not see any thing wrong in sending them CD letter. You can mention about this conversation in the letter also.

Have you confirmed with Platinum B about who is holding your accounts now? Try to contact them and make some payment arrangements. If possible try to settle it with Platinum B.

I do feel much better after finding these forums. It's almost like I've been educated more about my rights. I have found which company has my account through Platinum A and am waiting to hear back from them (when I call, I get put on hold for long periods of time). If I do in fact owe them the $$, I will pay it back but only to the agency authorized to collect on it. Thanks again for everything! :)
