I've recently (May 2010) received a letter from Asset Acceptance LLC stating that I owe them thousands of dollars on a Wells Fargo Account that was closed owing $350. I did, at one point in time have a small personal loan with Wells Fargo that I used to buy a car. I was 19! Anyway, that had been paid off, but that was back in 1996 or 97. I do not have any past due accounts or debts on my credit report, but I DO have an inquiry from Asset Acceptance LLC on my Experian credit report. Is it possible that they used my personal information obtained from Experian to create a false debt to be collected?

all i know is that ASSET ACCEPTANCE is the worst of the worst when it comes to bottomfeeders.send the d-bags a DV letter CMRRR.when they get that they must either validate or go away.they can't do a thing further without breaking the law until they can validate.this scuzz can never validate for the reasons you give in your post.get the letter out asap.
