has anyone heard or received a call from 1-888-924-4488 (national check arbitration)? my uncle received a call from this company and when i called back they said that they are collecting on behalf of norstar payday loan. he said that norstar is backed up by a bank and that the bank is the one actually collecting the money and that they are getting ready to serve me papers for the loan. he then said they will send a letter about the agreement but it has been 2 weeks and i have not received any letter. is this company legit? what should i do aboiut it?

Honestly, any legit company would have sent a letter of collection per the FDCPA. I would not give a phone on the voice any money without the proper documentation, there are far too many scams happening lately.

I just got a call with the same message, that a summons was being issued because my daughter took out an internet loan. They asked me to give them my credit card info over the phone and I didn't want to. They did not sound legit to me. I don't know what to do, my daughter is bi-polar and I have to deal with this issue. Supposedly, she did not pay the loan back, and BOA is the bank that the arbitrator said he was working for. Please give me some advice. I appreciate it.

What I mean to say was, I received a call stating that a summons was going to be issued because my daughter did not pay back a payday loan, from an online loan company. I was told the check she wrote to pay back the loan bounced, (for $500.00). This company, National Check Arbitration Services, told me they could have a Cease & Desist order issued if I made a payment TODAY, and they wanted my credit card information as well. They also said they were representing BOA.

i believe you said this was NORSTAR.treat everything as a bullsh*t lie,and illegal threat as NORSTAR isn't even located in this country especially the part about BOA.that bank will hire attorney's who will sue,but you will be served not called.this is all illegal BS.first file a police report for the calls, your daughter should do the same.then file AG,and FTC complaints against NORSTAR as i'm willing to bet that this supposed place is a made up entity by NORSTAR.then next time the idiots call tell them you know they are a scam, and will not talk to them further without something in writing.then hang up.repeat the process only just hang up without a word.

I have just started receiving calls from this very same company, I have been receiving calls for about a year now from various companies saying the same thing, this company being the latest. My payday loan was paid, and these people are saying it was not. I called the actual payday company earlier when I started receiving calls from other companies, and they informed me that they received my payment and they had already sold my debt to a company that actually buys bad debt(don't ask me how this works, so they forwarded my payment to them since they are not permitted to accept payment once the debt has been sold. I paid them a year later, so, correct me if I am wrong but wouldn't that mean that if my debt was sold, then they no longer have a reason to try to collect the debt? And, I sent them a payment, which they acknowledge receiving. I am getting harrassed by this company now{National Check Arbitration), and they are hunting me down all the way back to my ex in-laws. I am getting ready to retain an attorney to try to put an end to this!!

I have been dealing with this check arbitration services company for over 2 years now. They call about every 6 months. Once I get into it with the "Office Manager" he hangs up on me every time. There was a loan taken out under my name after I had my identitiy stolen and my house robbed. They took my laptop which allowed them access to everything on it including pictures and such. They also took my bank card in which I left on the counter for my boyfriend to use that day and he forgot and my car keys. This "office manager" did not believe me although I said I would send him a police report. He wanted $500 up front even when I told him I was a single working mother and didn't have that kind of money. This company is stressing me out. If they are going to take me to court then I will ask the judge to pay small amounts each month and I am sure it will be fine since I can prove my income cannot handle $500 all at once. Any advice???

I have been getting calls from these people they claim to have summons and are sending a process server to my house or more preferably to them my employer. I filed a complaint with the FTC. These guys sound very similar to the other scams except they appear to based in the US instead of India.

i got a call from this company too about a month ago- the number was 877-499-7011. i thought it was legit since i do owe on a payday loan and they knew the name of the bank i used to have. i gave them $150 on the spot and set up future payments with them. i tried calling them today so i could have them send me a statement monthly as to how much i still owe etc. but the number was disconnected. i looked them up online and found another number for them - called it - and got some guys personal cell phone. he said he gets calls for that company all the time. so i called my bank and stopped any future withdrawals for this company. is this really a scam company?? is there a way i can get my money back if it reallly isn't going towards my payday loan???
