Ok so I in KY. I received a call today from this company (Alliance Asset Management) wanting to collect for Sure Advance. They of course are requesting more than the original loan amount. In total I have borrowed $1000 from them and paid back $954. I sent them the letter and stated that I would agree to pay the $44 difference if they would give me a physical address to send my money to. I keep reading to ignore the calls and wait for a letter. I just wanted to see if anyone else had had any dealings with this company and what your results were.

Thanks!!

1- Ignore the calls

2- Wait for a letter

Not supplying a physical address is an indication of a bullshit outfit.

Furthermore if they have been calling you for quite some time and have not mailed you a letter with a return address explaining the nature of the debt, they are in violation of 15 USC 1692(g). If that is the case, THEY owe YOU $1,000.

I have been getting a call from these guys also. I am not sure as they just keep leaving messages and I can not hardly understand them but the number that shows up on the caller id is 630-760-1110. What is the proper way to handle this as I have not talked to a person yet. If I don't recognize the number I typically don't answer and they just leave numbers to call back which I can't because I can't understand the number that they give me. If I answer what are the steps to stop them from calling. Live in Michigan, not sure what pdl it is from but all of mine were online pdls.

The law (FDCPA) says that a collection agency has 5 days after their first initial contact with you to send you a dunning letter (letter of collection) via the mail, you may want to remind them of that law, but it sounds like you are being contacted by a call center and they may not understand a word you say anyhow. I would record their conversation and submit it to the FTC for investigation. My best guess is, once you begin talking to them they will threaten you (based on other information posted here), so, having all the proof you can get will work in your favor.

So I did receive a letter in the mail from Alliance today. At this point I am guessing that I need to send them a letter stating that I am disputing the debt based on the fact that they are an illegal lender in the state of Kentucky? They keep calling and I keep ignoring the calls..... oooo this sucks!!

Alliance called today from a different number. I made the mistake of answering--- UGH!! So I informed him that he was calling about an illegal debt and that I would be happy to pay the remaining balance of the principal of the original debt. He told me that Sure Advance was licensed in the state of Delware and were governed by that state. I explained that I have talked to the Kentucky Department of Financial Institutions and they disagreed with him. (I know at this point I have been on the phone with him for too long). He told me that whoever my counsel was that I should fire them because they are wrong. I told them my "counsel" was a government office in the state of KY and if he wanted to take it up with them he could be my guest. :) So now what. I know I need to send the DV letter to Alliance. Then what... Has anyone had any dealings with these guys?
