hi! has anyone heard of charles roberts and shultz law firm, said i was being charged for check fraud two acounts , I was scared at first until i found out the laws for payday loans for oklahoma wich says criminal action prohibited, i do plan to pay back my loan of 400 wich there charging me 530 and if i don't pay by july 1st they say they will take me to jail can find information they say the law office is from new york,they ask for a debit card number luckly i didn't give them my bank account but did give them my prepaid debit wich i think i will cancel and just try to make arrangements with ace cash express if you have any info that can help i would appreciate it thanks

Never admit to owing a debt to a voice on the telephone, NEVER. Cancel that prepaid visa card asap! I wouldn't pay any collection attorneys or collection agencies a dime until you receive the proper documentation via the mail. They are required by the FDCPA to send you a letter of collection via the mail within five days of the first time they contact you, tell them that much. What was the name of the pdl? If they withdrew payments from your account, then there was no check fraud involved, but more and more illegal lenders seems to be using this scare tactic.

thanks for the reply, and for this site debt consolidation forums very helpful information, and yes i canceled my prepaid debit card before they debited any money from it and waiting for a letter or legal papers but in the mean while trying to contact ace express cash to work out payments once agian thanks
