How do I know if I committed fraud I took out 6 payday loans due to gambling problems and now cannot pay them back is that fraud. I closed my bank account as well.

If you took the loan with no intent to repay, or if you used someone else's identity to obtain them (i.e., used someone else's name and ssn but had the money go to your account) then you committed fraud. As a practical matter, though, very few payday loan companies have ever sued anyone for fraud and, other than a handful of identity theft cases (and some bad check cases involving stores under the OLD New Mexico laws) no one has EVER been criminally prosecuted over a payday loan.

They will tell you anything to scare you and get you to repay that much quicker. Stand by for the one that says a warrant will be issued for your address, because I guarantee you it's coming. Again, a load of BS.
But, you need to take steps to clean this mess up. The first thing to do is to close your account and get a new one--and do NOT give out the number to anyone. The second thing to do is to sit down and develop a workable payment plan for the PDL's. Are any storefront PDL's, meaning that you went into a building to take them out. These are usually licensed in your state, which means they must be paid back first. I say that because the chances of them taking you to civil court and winning are greater.
Good luck and keep us posted.
