I am new to the forum but hope that I can get some advice on dealing with overwhelming payday loan debt. I have gotten myself into a big hole due to taking out payday loans to support a gambling addiction. I have taken the first step to getting on the right track by banning myself from the casinos but now have to find a way to deal with the mess that I have created. I live in MO and have 13 payday loans currently outstanding. 2 of them are online but the rest are storefront. I have a fairly good income but have gotten to the point where my entire check is gone as soon as I get it and cannot pay for anything else. Please help!!!

Welcome! You have taken the first step towards taking your life back. You said most of your loans are storefront? These need to go to the top of the list to work out repayment plans with, as they are probably licensed in your state, which means that there is a greater chance of them taking you to civil court and winning.
In order for us to help you, can you list your PDL's and how much you have borrowed and paid on them?
The next thing you need to do is close your account ASAP and get a new one. The reason this is important is because as soon as your lenders know you are having problems, they will hit your account immediately. I know, because it happened to me.
After that, sit down and work out a payment plan that you can honestly live with. Remember: you still need to pay basic needs like housing, food, etc, but this needs to be dealt with as well. Then you need to communicate with your lenders and let them know what is going on. They might or might not work with you, but you need to show that you are being proactive. If they say they won't accept payments, send them anyway. If they cash your money order, they accept payments!
I would also contact an organization like Gamblers' Anonymous, which can help deal with the root cause that got you here: gambling.
The good news is that 13 PDL's is not the most we've seen on the site, so you are definately not alone. So keep checking in with us, OK? I and many other people have been there and can help.

Welcome you are definately not alone!!! Funny thing is when I signed up about a month ago I found this sight by accident. I had no idea how many people were like you and I and all the rest here! We all have reasons as to what drove us to PDL's but hopefully by the help of this forum you will find some relief. To be honest I also have close to 11 PDL's and since I joined this forum a few weeks ago I received a PIF and a refund of$1520.00. Its a very slow process but you are not alone!!!

I wouldn't suggest that you close your account, especially if you have post dated checks as collateral on your store front loans, because MO law states:
Criminal Action: Prohibited (Unless check returned due to closed account or stop-payment by maker)
Shazzers,

I was aware of the possible criminal action from closing my account as I had done some research prior to my post. I have listed the companies that I owe below. I did not list the amounts and how much I have paid them with the exception of 1 loan. The reason for this is that I actually paid them all off recently and there is only one that was not paid off. I realize this may seem crazy but I found a friend to help me with paying all but 1 off and now 6 weeks later, I am actually in worse shape. Please let me know if it is necessary to have list the amounts. The top 2 are the only online loans that I have outstanding.

zip19.com
paychecktoday.com($420..paid $1560 so far)
Ace Cash Express
Quik Cash
Cash Advance
MO Payday
Advance America
Check In 2 Cash
Budgetline
Planet Cash
St Louis Payday
Check n Go
Ez Loan

Your online lenders are both not licensed to lend to your state residents, since you can't close your account due to the payday loan laws, you'll need to place an ACH block on them. Paychecktoday owes you $1140.00, and I would pursue that is I were you!!

Check the link below to see if any of your store front lenders are members of the CFSA (Community Financial Services Association of America), you may want to call some of the lenders you have and ask if they are members, I will tell you why in a moment:

mpj stone--
Am I correct in deducing from your last post that the only two loans you owe now are the first ones and everything else on your list is actually paid off? If so, how are you now in worse shape? Have you incurred other debts? And have you demanded a refund from the company that you have grossly overpaid?

KS...I owe them all. I had previously paid off several payday loans but now have more than I did before. As far as paychecktoday, I most definitely intend on pursuing them for the $1140. Any advice on how to handle that after I have placed an ACH block. Shazzers, as far as zip19.com is concerned. Do I have to pay them back or just contact them and make them aware that I know they are not licensed in MO. This of course after I have blocked the ACH. Also, there are 5 of the 11 storefronts that are CFSA members. From what I understand, the EPP's are based on paying off the loans in 4 installments based on the balance, including interest. Is that correct, or is it possible they will work with me on a longer term?

The interest stops as soon as you sign up. Perhaps you could do a couple at a time until you finally get them all paid off. As far as the ACH blocks, those are only temporary, once those lenders (especially the two you mentioned) finds out you have placed a block on them, they will change their names and debit HUGE amounts from your account. They have several dba names, so that will be an easy task for them, they are well know for doing this, please keep a close eye on these suckers - and go into your bank as soon as you see ANY suspicious activity, also give your bank a heads up on what may occur.
