I got a letter in the mail about some unpaid account on books I have never seen. I'm assuming it is identity theft or flat out mistake? The charges are form 2006.

The automated voice thing said they would close the account, yet... what does that mean for me?

Can't even get a hold of a representative.

Do a search under RJM Aquisitions in the box on top of this page! You will see that they are notorious dumpster divers trying to collect anything on debts that are usually past the statute of limitations! You should find an address for them also! Send them a letter telling them to validate the debt and to cease all communication with you!

Can you tell if this collection agency is listed on your credit report? If they are check who the original creditor is, and if you at all owe the said amount. Send them a debt validation letter through certified mail, requesting a return receipt. You will get a sample debt validation letter at http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/letters/sample6.html .
