As you know, bad debt is often a result of poor money management and bad judgment. Consolidation is definitely a big help, but it is akin to treating a symptom and not the disease (i.e. poor money management). Perhaps the respect members can share some tips on what to do after consolidating one's debt to to avoid falling into debt again.

Well the one upside I can see by trying to settle my debts and getting a bad credit score because of it, is that it will be harder for me to get credit and harder for me to go into debt. But that's OK...credit is evil :-) As long as I can hold on to the home I currently own, that's all I need for the next few years (I hope).

Greetings,

After completing the ds journey, I have sworn off credit.

Can you beleive that I am still receiving cc offers, this gold card, another silver and even a plat card?

As of November 2009, I have been on a cash basis.
Carry two debit cards...that's it. Period!

What's not in my wallet?
Credit Cards.

Regards,
